Second Conditional

Il Secondo Condizionale descrive situazioni ipotetiche o irreali nel presente o nel futuro. Si usa per scenari immaginari o per dare consigli cortesemente. Struttura: If + past simple, would + forma base. Nell'inglese formale, "were" è spesso usato al posto di "was".

QUANDO USARE

Usalo per situazioni immaginarie, ipotetiche o improbabili nel presente o nel futuro. Usato anche con cortesia quando si danno consigli ("If I were you, I would...").

STRUTTURA

positiveIf + past simple, would + base verb

If I had more money, I would travel the world.

**Se** avessi più soldi, **viaggerei** per il mondo.

negativeIf + past simple, wouldn't + base verb

If she liked spicy food, she wouldn't avoid it.

**Se** le piacesse il cibo piccante, **non lo eviterebbe**.

Nella clausola if, usa il past simple — NON "would"

If I was you, I would leave.

If I were you, I would leave.

Nell'inglese formale, usa "were" per tutti i soggetti nel secondo condizionale, specialmente "I were you"

Suggerimento

La chiave del secondo condizionale: ENTRAMBE le cose sono irreali/improbabili ora. "If I had a million dollars" = non li ho. "I would buy a house" = non la sto comprando. Tutto è immaginario!
