Second Conditional
El Segundo Condicional describe situaciones hipotéticas o irreales en el presente o futuro. Se usa para escenarios imaginarios o para dar consejos con cortesía. Estructura: If + pasado simple, would + verbo base. En inglés formal, "were" se usa a menudo en lugar de "was".
CUÁNDO USAR
Úsalo para situaciones imaginarias, hipotéticas o improbables en el presente o futuro. También se usa con cortesía al dar consejos ("If I were you, I would...").
ESTRUCTURA
If + past simple, would + base verbIf I had more money, I would travel the world.
**Si** tuviera más dinero, **viajaría** por el mundo.
If + past simple, wouldn't + base verbIf she liked spicy food, she wouldn't avoid it.
**Si** le gustara la comida picante, **no la evitaría**.

ERRORES COMUNES
If I would have more money, I would travel.
If I had more money, I would travel.
En la cláusula con if, usa el pasado simple — NO "would"
If I was you, I would leave.
If I were you, I would leave.
En inglés formal, usa "were" para todos los sujetos en el segundo condicional, especialmente "I were you"
Consejo
La clave del segundo condicional: AMBAS cosas son irreales/improbables ahora. "If I had a million dollars" = no lo tengo. "I would buy a house" = no estoy comprando una. ¡Todo es imaginario!
