Adjectives (Basic)

Adjektive beschreiben oder näher bestimmen Substantive. Im Englischen stehen Adjektive normalerweise vor dem Substantiv, das sie beschreiben. Ihre Form ändert sich nicht, ob das Substantiv im Singular oder Plural steht. Adjektive können auch nach Verknüpfungsverben wie be, seem, look und feel stehen.

WANN MAN ES VERWENDET

Verwende Adjektive vor Substantiven, um sie zu beschreiben (attributiv), oder nach Verknüpfungsverben wie be, seem, look, feel, taste, smell, um das Subjekt zu beschreiben (prädikativ).

STRUKTUR

formadjective + noun (before noun)

She lives in a beautiful house.

Sie wohnt in einem **schönen** Haus.

usageS + linking verb + adjective (after verb)

The coffee tastes bitter. She seems happy.

Der Kaffee **schmeckt bitter**. Sie **sieht glücklich aus**.

exceptionopinion + size + age + shape + colour + origin + material + noun

A beautiful small old round wooden table.

Ein **schöner kleiner alter runder** Holztisch.

Im Englischen stehen Adjektive VOR dem Substantiv, nicht dahinter

It was a very beauty day.

It was a very beautiful day.

Verwende die Adjektivform (beautiful) zur Beschreibung eines Substantivs, nicht die Nominalform (beauty)

Tipp

Im Vietnamesischen stehen Adjektive oft NACH dem Substantiv (z. B. "nhà đẹp" = schönes Haus). Im Englischen ist es umgekehrt — Adjektive stehen IMMER VOR dem Substantiv.
